THE REVIEW

What I thought: Overall really good fun episode. Gwen is such a strong character, tough, intelligent and always seems a little dangerous as well, on the edge ready to explode. Really good idea story wise, around the dead town inhabited by Darkness, a very very creepy alien that pretty much eats/absorbs you when you look at it. The very creepy B and B is also a great highlight, with the blind Mrs Rhodes pretty much the only inhabitant that hasn’t been absorbed/eaten. There is more to meets the eye with her, no pun intended. The music and pacing is particularly strong in this one, with the story twisting and turning toward the very dark ending, good to listen to Gwen triumph by the end of the episode.

Rating: 4 out of 5 – another very strong Torchwood episode, an exciting and a very well paced hour of adventure. Highly recommended.

What I felt: as usual very very happy to be back on the Torchwood world.

What am I left thinking?

• Not an awful lot, it’s a very self-contained episode, does the job really well.

Memorable bits

• Mrs Rhodes stiching together a human outfit from human skin!
• The darkness is such a creepy villain.
