THE REVIEW

What I thought: the first episode stands out for me, very interesting set up, love the character of Mohinder and an episode with Clive of India (with Midlands accent) is already winning for me. Alexander the Great as well, along with an assortment of interesting characters and Cosmogon has an expanded role across this set, and plays an interesting role in this first episode. Jo Martin continues to deliver a very different take on the Doctor yet is still clearly the Doctor, I would LOVE to see more of her on TV however these boxsets are a close second. The second episode is back to Space and alien monsters, with a great former companion of the Fugtive in the form of Sodalsi, lovely addition to the fugitive doctors cannon.

The final episode sees the return of the vampires, possibly a little overused of late, however i do understand why they used them. It’s all ancient Gallifrey for the Fugitive Doctor, in my head cannon anyway. The development of Cosmogon in this one is bloody great, with the Doctor pulling a great double bluff to save Cosmo from Queen Vardilla. Some very intriguing hints at more to come/mystery and intrigued…really really hope that BF continue these epic adventures and an incarnation of the Doctor that deserves years of adventure!

Rating: 4.5 out of 5 Artifacts – very very enjoyable and the Cosmo-Fugitive relationship/antagonism drives these three stories, most enjoyable.

What I felt:

What am I left thinking?

  • MORE of these boxsets, pretty please, there is SOOOOOO much potential to this incarnation
  • Will we see/hear of Sodalis again?

Memorable bits

  • A spitfire inspired episode, ancient India and Clive of India, brilliant!
  • Who is the ‘sinister division commander/Alaxander V…great performance by the way, hope to see him again!
  • Who is the Grey man?
