Context:

I hadn’t listened to a Sixie BF adventure for a while, I was missing my 6 fix so was very much looking forward to this new 6th Doc box set, with the intriguing return of Iris and a Dalek adventure. I listened to this one over a weekend in Shropshire, so ran whilst listening to this, a few walks etc etc. Probably my perfect conditions for listening to new BF who.

THE REVIEW

What I thought:

Well, I thought these three episode were very strong, vivid in my memory for all good reasons. The first story uses the Daleks in a very unique way, perfect for the 6th Doctor as the adventure is all about stories and our need for them. There are some partiulcaly horrible Dalek conversions type scenes here, with the word ‘love’ turning into ‘exterminate’. Chilling, with a lovely speech by Colin B at the end of this one.

My favourite of the three is this second story. A return to Marco Polo, which is really great fun and Terry Molly is brilliant as a much older Marco Polo. Things get really weird when Iris turns up and I bloody love the body swap. Both Katy Manning and Colin Baker are brilliant playing each others characters, so funny. Loved it.

The final story is solid, very Constance focused story, some really interesting scenes with multiple Mrs Clarke robots going crazy across the planet Hoi. So funny. Also some poignant moments with the 6th Doctor and Constance. Great stuff and a fitting conclusion to a very strong 6th Doctor boxset.

Rating: 4 out of 5 Daleks – I liked this boxset very much, Colin B on great form and Constance is a brilliant companion. The sixth Doctor really does get great BF companions.

What I felt: satisfied with this 6th doctor set, one of my fav doctors on top form, quality stories, varied and enetertaining performances and great music. Highly recommend.

What am I left thinking/feeling/wanting?

• More an overwhelming NEED for mor 6th Doctor in my life!
• Please more adventures with Constance…
