THE REVIEW

What I thought:

I can remember Spare Parts really well and as a result I wasn’t particularly excited about this one, i thought it might be very similar but I LOVE the cover (I am a physical collector so very happy to have this in the collection). As it so turned out within the first episode i enjoyed this very much indeed. It’s a good story, and an intriguing alternative for the genesis of the Cybermen. The premise of the two princes surprised me how well this worked. I do wonder how this would have turned out with a different TARDIS team, sixth in particular I was thinking.

Rating: 3.5 out of 5 Daleks – it looses Daleks due to the number of Cyberman origin stories we already have, but despite this its a good story, good use of the companions (Adric and Nysa in particular) and those mondasian cyber voices are bloody great!

What I felt:

I was pleasantly happy this was better/more engaging than I thought it would be, well worth a listen.

What am I left thinking?

  • Surely no more Cyber origin stories?!?!
  • Could we get origin stories for those monsters we don’t have yet, maybe Planet Kynoid will do this?!

Memorable bits

  • The Cyber Mum!
  • Adric is dead good in this! M Waterhouse is really growing on me via his BF outputs
