Context: I have been catching up with the River Song box sets over the last year or so, although I haven’t written a review of any thus far I have enjoyed them all, mostly, and its been nice to alternate between Doctor lead adventures and then to a Benny or River box set. I wasn’t so keen on the previous box set, however this one I enjoyed immensely.

THE REVIEW

What I thought: This was a refreshingly better box set than the last one (just wasn’t my cup of tea) and I got into this big time (lots of good long lengths of time doing mundane stuff meant I could give this lots of sustained attention). The interplay between Liz and River is brilliant in this, throw in the Brig and the third doctor in the final episodes and this makes for a hugely entertaining set of adventures. I LOVED this.

Rating: 4.5 out of 5 Daleks – really brilliant, not a lot wrong with this I would say. There are so many great things about this box set, so much fun and brilliant performances and writing, should be 5 Daleks really JZ.

What am I left thinking?

• Do we have any more Doctor River mash ups ahead of us
• How the whole ‘destruction of the universe’ theme/story plays out over the final three box sets

• River messing with 3’s TARDIS set up!
