Context: I listened to this as soon as it came out, the thought of a series of adventures with the Fugitive Doc to tempting to not dive into immediately!

THE REVIEW

What I thought: wowzers, this is a great set of stories. Solid in style, nothing uber experimental or unfamiliar yet the inclusion of Jo Martins Fugitive Doctor is bloody brilliant and elevates these stories. The Baba Yaga episode is great, and I have some personal affection for the inclusion of Irving and Mallory in the final episode (Cheshire, Mobberly = home-ish). This is a solid box set, and I really hope this leads to a whole series of fugitive box sets. The fugitive, running from Cosmo, getting into scrapes like some kind of time travelling A Team, how great would that be!

Rating: 4.5 out of 5 Daleks – it’s the fugitive doctor, which I appreciate isn’t everyone’s cup of tea however for me, this is just great, simply great. I hope the chase element develops, and we learn more (not too much though) about this most enigmatic of incarnations.

What I felt:

What am I left thinking?

  • How much will we end up learning about division?
  • Will we get returning elements from series 13 and the Flux?
  • How far can this go?!?

Memorable bits

  • The cliffhanger is awesome! What the devil is going on?? Sounds a bit GOT to me (and to me that is a good thing)
  • A chicken legged hut
  • Sandy Irvine! (Shame Mallory wasn’t in it)
