So, it occurred to me that if I was embarking on this epic reading adventure, what wouldn’t I read new releases? Hence, this is the beginning of this strand of my reading, my first 15th Doctor original novel!
THE REVIEW
What I thought: It took me a while to get used to the different style of these original novels, as opposed to the depth and ongoing nature of the VNA and EDA’s. That is not to say I think a lack of that complexity is a minus for this book. In some ways it’s an enjoyable respite from the more intense stories. I felt I could chill more with this one, and just enjoying spending time with 15 and Ruby, which I very much did. I hadn’t heard of/read anything about this event in 13th Century Russian history so that was really cool as well. Most enjoyable.
Rating: 4 out of 5 Daleks (great start to original 15th Doctor novels, I really hope that )
What I felt Happy to have new Who original novels, as at the mo I am very much locked in the past, loved the HB format and great to have big text, I am 46 after all and my eyes are not what they used to be!
What am I left thinking?
- What’s next for 15!
- Will the novels return to any old foes?!
Memorable bits
- The chase!
- The Genetrix is v cool
- Battle on the frozen lake
