Context: so this is a random foray into the monthly adventures. Since getting back into BF with gusto in 2023 I have alternated between boxsets and monthly adventures, as this was originally where my audio Who journey started. So I wanted to get back into them, knowing where to start though was a challenge. I had an aborted started by listening to one doctor by order of release but gave up on that, then started at no 200-ish, basically where the CD was still available. I am an uber collector at heart, and I started re-collecting the CD’s. I was there at the beginning, Sirens of Time, at Uni for the first time….more on that for a future blog…

THE REVIEW

What I thought: I didn’t realize these were four separate stories initially (doh) so that surprised me, but once I caught up I pretty much enjoyed all of them (possibly the memory bank the most) but overall solid stories here. The differences between doctors never ceases to amaze me, and its from these stories on audio I really appreciate the depth of performance from the different actors who play the timelord we all love, thank the Gods of Ragnarok etc for Big Finish!

Rating: 3.5 out of 5

What I felt: entertained, and only occasionally a bit lost. Probably more a reflection of what I was doing while listening (dull emails) than the quality of the story. Good fun.

What am I left thinking?

  • Why isn’t Turlough in many/any BF’s anymore?
  • What was the deal with the four separate stories?

Memorable bits

  • The Memory Bank – what a great concept!
  • The interplay between Turlough and 5…I dont think I have listened to enough Turlough adventures
