Context: so despite me being adamant this was a novel/reading based blog it occurred to me considering I have been consistently listening to Big Finish audios again for over a year now (with some gusto I might add) so it didn’t really make sense not to do the same for the audios as I am with the Who reading I am doing. As I post BF reviews I will expand further on this, for now I am enjoying writing these things so much more material is needed, I cant read the novels that fast!
THE REVIEW
What I thought: So this is focused I suppose on the final part of the War Master dark Gallifrey trilogy, which doesn’t make a lot of sense although if this was solely a review of part one my initial impressed was fairly negative (not sure I fully understood what was going on) however now I have listened to all three, I get it now. And in fact really enjoyed this three part-er, the Master in this final installment is at his deranged best. Jacobi is so good, and Captain John grew on me. It’s good fun and an interesting set of stories. I have no idea whatsoever what is going to happen next!
Rating: 4 out of 5 Daleks (just as strong as the Morbius trilogy, The War Master is just so cool!)
What I felt Engaged, excited and focused…I jogged back and re-listened to a few bits, not because i didn’t understand them or didn’t hear, because the dialogue was so much fun.
What am I left thinking?
- Where the devil is the story going
- Who is the focus of the next Dark Gallifrey trilogy
Memorable bits
- The War Master going fully bat s@£t crazy when considering himself becoming an uber super weapon
- Will we see Captain John again?
