Ok, so I am a bit arse about face here in terms of order of reading as I was some books in before I decided to write a blog! So I read this a few months back, as my first EDA of this who reading adventure, and yah blog wasn’t a thing at that point…anyway I will try to get these out ASAP so I can be contemporaneous with my readings…we shall see.

The EDA’s, despite having read about half of the new adventures first time around/read the NA’s before these came out, it was the EDA’s that really captured my imagination. I was at the university of Aberdeen when these came out, a young 20-ish person who loved Who and LOVED Paul McGann’s 8th doctor in particular. The new adventures of the 8th doctor were a very welcome opportunity for new Who, and I very much remember having a strong view that Dr Who was over as a TV programme (how wrong was 21 year old me! thankfully).

So, I can recall liking this one loads when it came out…so I was pretty excited to read this again some 25 ish years later..

THE REVIEW

What I thought: Ok, so I thought this was …fun but kinda …like a bit of fan fiction. I know now, after listening to reviews after reading this again that it’s a bit marmite, and I don’t like marmite.

Rating: 2 out of 5 Daleks (partly because I know later books are far more my cup of earl grey)

What I felt?

This one took me back again, in a good way, and also felt like I wanted to get this done as I can remember Vampire Science far better than this one.

I appreciate it is a first EDA and needs to do certain things (did it though?) but the continuity is off the scale on this one.

What am I left thinking?

  • Not a lot to be honest…

Memorable bits

– The final page

  • The 6th Doc getting smashed with the 8th doctor was quite good fun
